North Coast on NPR, March 15, 2010

From Sean McLaughlin:

National Public Radio correspondent Laura Sydell was in our region this week for a story about Broadband and challenges for universal service, including for remote rural communities in our region.

Her seven minute report will air on NPR's "All Things Considered" program on Monday March 15th (the day before the FCC releases the National Broadband Plan) - so tune in to your local NPR affiliate station - or find the program online! Note: the report will also cover underserved urban communities and national perspectives - including former White House adviser... so the Redwood Coast part may be small... still, this report places our local stories on the national stage!!

Thanks to our local leaders' (including RTC leadership) efforts to keep the Redwood Coast in the forefront - Laura was referred to us and introduced to folks in some of our 'least served' communities with very compelling stories that will help to inform the national discussion on the eve of the FCC's release of the National Broadband Plan! Special thanks to Connie Stewart for driving and hosting Laura - I think we'll see a nice photo of you on the NPR website to accompany the story!

And congratulations to RTC for keeping the broadband fires burning!
