Local high school seniors invited to apply for scholarship!
May 10, 2011, Eureka CA—The Redwood Technology Consortium invites all graduating high school seniors to apply for the 2011 Don Wolski Memorial Scholarship award of $1,500.
The following information can also be found on the RTC website, www.redwoodtech.org.
To apply for the scholarship, applicants must submit a 500-800 word essay.
The topics for this year’s competition, of which applicants need only choose one, are:

What would be the best local ideas for utilizing the capabilities of technology and social media (Facebook/Twitter/Foursquare/Yelp/Groupon) to promote and stimulate the local economy?

What would be the best local ideas for utilizing the capabilities of technology and social media (Facebook/Twitter/Foursquare/Yelp/Groupon) for educational purposes?
Requirements:
1. Students must be a 2011 graduating Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino or Trinity County senior, who will attend an accredited institution of higher education in the 2011-2012 school year.
2. The essay must be between 500-800 words in length.
3. Along with your essay, please include 2 adult references and a brief letter from each attesting to your character.
4. Send your essay and letters as Microsoft Word documents or Adobe Acrobat PDFs to: board [at] redwoodtech [dot] org.
Deadline: 5 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011
Judging Criteria:
Essays will be judged according to relevance to the topic, writing skills, clarity, and creativity. Winner will be determined by the board of RTC the following week and may be asked to read their essay at an RTC Luncheon (date TBD). The essay will become the property of RTC and may be published in local media.
