[RTC List] Gmail, or ....?

Hello Sir Mueller,
I, for one, think that Gmail does rock -- and if you have your own
domain, the "Gmail Hosted" works very well (although the login
interface is not very pretty yet.)
By far the nicest thing about Gmail is the threaded view system. No
more having 20 different emails listed in your email client for a
single email-thread. (you'd have to see this to understand what I
mean)
Getting setup with the Hosted Gmail ( http://www.google.com/hosted/ )
is as simple as applying, getting approved, and than changing your MX
Records.
I have about a half-dozen of my ~100 domains using Hosted Gmail, and
have a number of clients that use them. Aside from spending 5-10K on a
Barracuda spam filter, you will not find a better spam filter than
what Gmail uses.
Anyway, none of this is to counter what Sir Van Hefner said, but I
(and I know a number of other folks here in Humboldt County) DO use
Gmail and Gmail Hosted for BOTH business and personal uses.
A few years ago I bought a domain name just for my family, and threw
squirrelmail into the server for it... than Gmail Hosted came around
and I got approved for it... and now I've got folks in the "Abela
Family" from all over the world who use Gmail Hosting through my
domain. It is kind of neat being able to offer @abelafamily.net email
addresses to anybody "in the family", from around the world.... and,
none of it is on my server, so less headache, less security issues,
and a heck of a lot less bandwidth and disk usage being used!
Anyway... that about sums up my thoughts on your question about Gmail.
