[RTC List] We are not alone- what did happen?

North of Laytonville was what AT&T told the media. Only AT&T has info
on direct buried or aerial, but there is a some information on the
report I did in 2002 - map on page 9
http://www.neratech.net/docs/northcoast_bandwidth_2002.pdf.
Of course, lots of information in that report is way out of date. We
have a long journey ahead, but remember we're way better off than we
were in 2002 before the fiber. More up to date information is in
http://www.neratech.net/docs/final_report.pdf. Tina

Did anyone ever hear where exactly the break even happened? It's already
a bit frightening running a tech business from here knowing we're
dependent on a single strand of fiber, but it's even more frightening to
know that it includes aerial lines! Anyone have any idea how _much_ of
the stretch to the bay area is aerial or which parts? It's time for a
buried cable to Redding _yesterday_...

The Associated Press reports that Asia was slowly recovering Thursday
from one of the biggest telecommunication outages to hit the region in
years as crews scrambled to rig up new telephone and Internet networks
to replace those snapped by a Taiwanese earthquake.
