[RTC List] Airport Update and Meeting Announcement

Hello friends of the Arcata-Eureka Airport,
 
As many of you may know, RREDC, in partnership with the Humboldt County
Public Works Division of Aviation, is coordinating a project to recruit
new air service to our area.  We have retained the consulting firm of
Mead & Hunt to lead this process.   The goal of the project is to
convince one or more air carriers to invest in new service from our
regional airport.
 
We will be hosting a public meeting to kick off this important project.
The meeting will be held:
            Wednesday, November 29th, 2006.
            2:00 p.m.
            Wharfinger Building, Eureka
 
The meeting will feature the lead consultant of the project, Mike Boggs.
Mr. Boggs has provided airport business support services to numerous
airports, the bulk of which fall into the non-hub and small-hub
category.  He has been successful in assisting many smaller communities
with air service improvements, including the successful
Redding/Arcata-Eureka Airports grant for service to LAX.  Boggs is
nationally known in airline and airport sectors for his creative
approach to air service development and related air service support
programs.  
 
His presentation will focus on the following:
            1.         Industry trends in regional air service.
            2.         Small community air service.
            3.         Our options and what can we do as a community to
encourage new service.
 
In addition, we will be presenting information on other airport
activities that will lead to future growth.
 
It is critical that we demonstrate broad community support for new air
service.  Our efforts with the Redding Airport to secure the LAX flights
were successful in large part to community support from both Redding and
Humboldt County.
