I agree. This seems to be nothing other than a cheap PR pitch. I get
them every single day as an editor. AT&T regularly sends press releases
out in "bulk", where they claim to offer some great deal that is
specific to a particular region, only there are dozens and dozens of
different versions of the same story which only differ by the city,
state, region, etc. that they mention. If there was any expansion truly
worth mentioning, they would have mentioned it!
Meanwhile, don't count on being able to get DSL service anytime soon in
areas like Cutten, Humboldt Hill, large parts of Arcata and
McKinleyville, etc. Ironically enough, DSL isn't even available at
AT&T's own repair facility on Humboldt Hill, where most of their
employees work out of. I'm guessing that they can probably afford to
spring for a T1 at the office though. :-)
