After much searching I found my best solution.

Hiring a temp worker from a personnel agency  allows me to set the 
hourly wage, and then the agency adds their fee on top, which covers 
all the legal stuff,  workman's comp, ins, paperwork, payroll, etc.

I had expected this to be a prohibitive cost, but it was not!

a great solution for me to find the right person, with the right  work 
ethic, & attitude, for what will be a long term part time job., and the 
person is fully protected and has a secure work situation.

So even if I found a person from this list ( and several  did contact 
me) they would have to register with an agency before I could  'hire' 
them.

as a tiny,  one person business having the service of the payroll and   
worker comp handled is worth every penny.

PS: and to the  job caller who sent me a  written letter full of 
suggestions on how to  fix my business, yet gave no  name, reply 
address or phone...that was weird!       What makes you think I had not 
considered and resolved all the  points you  brought up?
