Greetings,
At the request of Gary Bird, Special Projects Manager for the City of
Eureka, I'm sending out this link to an important disaster-planning
survey for Humboldt residents. Your participation can help improve,
among other things, local IT infrastructure that aids in natural
disaster preparation and recovery.
You can download the PDF survey at:
http://redwoodtech.org/files/1006HumCoPlanningSurvey.pdf
Please help your community's disaster planning efforts and FEMA funding
eligibility by sending your responses no later than November 1st. Read
below for more info and where to send it. Thanks for your time.

Below is a link to a three page questionnaire put together by Humboldt
County planning staff as part of a Regional Disaster/Hazard Mitigation
Plan process in which the City of Eureka is participating. The process
is being directed locally by the County, with participation from city
agencies, and it is funded and sponsored by State OES and FEMA. The
resulting Disaster/Hazard Mitigation Plan will be a valuable tool in
protecting our citizens and critical facilities and infrastructure from
disaster (earthquake, flood, fire, etc.). Once the Plan document is
approved by FEMA (estimated 2007), the City of Eureka will become
eligible for funding opportunities which can help us pay for numerous
implementing programs or projects.
You can download the PDF survey at:

I am sending this questionnaire through email because the State could
not provide the funding to launch an all-out postal mailing effort.
Please feel free to forward this questionnaire to any Humboldt County
resident on your mailing list. The questionnaire should be completed by
November 1, 2006.
When complete, return it to Gary Bird, City of Eureka (contact info
below), or mail to the County at:
Humboldt County Community Development Services Dept.
Planning Division
3015 H Street
Eureka CA 95501
Should you have any questions or printing difficulties, please feel
free to contact me at any time. Thank you and my apologies for any
cross-postings.
