Thanks. We used to subscribe to the Journal and the T-S and still read
them online. I've seen the Humguide, too. We've been doing our
homework since 2002.
Why? Where to start? Our youngest finished college and we don't have
to stay here anymore. We don't like it here. WAAY to conservative, too
many rednecks, nasty climate, allergies, etc., etc. Directions here are
entirely 'faith based'. "Ya go up to St. Betty's Parish and take a
left. Then ya go to where St. Fred's used to be, afore it burnt down,
and take a right... " I could go on and on.
We lived in the SF area from '81 - '94, until I got laid off. We moved
here for the usual practical reasons: affordable housing, family nearby
(a mixed blessing), but it didn't take long for us to wish we were back
amongst like minded people. We're homesick. I know HC isn't the Bay
Area, but we have visited and expect to like it even better than SF. We
intend to stay.
I have worked for Hamilton County (OH) for the past eight years and
would probably do well with Humboldt County gov't. Thanks for the tip.
Tim
