I went down that path this year and have a work study student coming in.
I'm very pleased but there are some limitations. If you contact the HSU
Career center they can talk with you about criteria and process. You can
get more information at http://www.humboldt.edu/~career/employers.html.

Subject: [RTC List] HSU Internships/Student Work
Dear RWT Brain Trust,
Does anyone on this list have any experience trying to run
internships through HSU? I want to start working on an apprenticeship-
type development program with my company, focusing on cutting-edge
open source web technology, and I figured it might be a good
opportunity all around to try and find someone locally.
I'm curious how things work out for taxes, meeting HSU's requirements
for liability insurance, etc. Also, whether or not there's anyone in
the CS department who I might contact in regards to arranging
academic credit, as I think the work experience would be very
valuable to a CS major.
Thanks in advance!
