Long Time, hope everything is going well for RTC.

I've been reading RTC emails and until now, I was not very impressed with the direction of the organization to provide new information or create a project that all members could get behind. That is until this applied technology with green idea came up. Green use technology has many applications and could be a great vehicle for RTC to contribute to.

Here is how I've been using Green Tech to create social change and help communities in need:

I've been in New Orleans for the past 13 months. I got here a day after Hurricane Katrina hit.

The month previous, I was in Crawford Texas with Cindy Sheehan providing wireless Internet to for Camp Casey. I was able to do this by using a Satellite Internet Dish mounted on the Impeachment Tour Bio Diesel Bus. I drove it out from California for the Veterans For Peace Convention August 3rd-6th 2005. During the convention Cindy Sheehan asked me and the rest of the crew on the bus to take her to Crawford, TX. And the rest as they say, is history!

When we left Crawford for New Orleans on the 30th of August, Cindy had three Satellite systems mounted on Motorhomes for the Bring Them Home Now Tour. During the tour one wawiped of the roof by a low bridge "Ouch". When the tour ended in Washington D.C. on September 24th, she had two sat systems with no vehicles to place them on. I asked if I could have them for New Orleans relief. She said that I was welcome to them and had them delivered to me.

I placed one on the roof of the Common Ground Relief Lower Ninth Ward Blue house project (http://www.bluehouseproject.org/index.html) where is is today. It is providing Internet Access for the organization to communicate with volunteers and provide community members who are trying to rebuild their homes with access to FEMA information, etc.

The other system I have in "Camp Liberty" in Slidell, LA. It was powered by a solar system until we were able to get electricity and Cable Internet for our Volunteer camp. It is now mounted on a 1985 Ford Van that was donated to my new non profit organizationnn, New Orleans Voices For Peace (www.neworleansvfp.org).

The van SUCKS GAS! and I want to get rid of it ASAP. I would like to find another bio diesel school bus to put it on so that I can be prepared for the next hurricane or other disaster without the political baggage the the Impeachment Tour Bus had.

The reason I'm telling you all this is because when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, it took out all the power, phone services, and cell towers. Other than the National Guard we had the only Internet communications system up and running and mobile!

So, my request of RTC, Humboldt State Univ, College of the Redwoods, or any members who are interested, is to find a bio diesel bus and small solar system with several Marine batteries. I'll put the Sat system and media gear on it and tour the country promoting green communications and disaster relief communications.

Those that are interested can have their logos, on the bus and mentioned on the website I will create that will not be politicalAlthoughinformation or create a project that all members could get behind. We also use Wifi repeaters and DSL conections when services were back to expand communication networks for grassroots organizations though out the city.
