Press Release
April 3, 2007

Access Humboldt and City of Rio Dell propose start for digital
communications project; "Digital Rio Dell"

Rio Dell, CA - Rio Dell is known as the "warm hearted city," but soon it
will also be the hottest wireless internet location in Humboldt County.
Mayor Bud Leonard announced today the City Council’s support for the
Digital Rio Dell Project proposal, "this partnership with Access
Humboldt would provide Rio Dell with a fully redundant broadband
connection - and a wireless network to give local residents and visitors
public access to the Internet."

The Digital Rio Dell Project is proposing building new communications
capacity for public service, educational and local government purposes.
In addition to a new 2 Mbps connection, the Project will provide
wireless Internet access at selected public facilities around Rio Dell,
including City Hall, Public Library, Fire Station, and City Park
facilities – additional sites are planned to be added in the future.

Digital Rio Dell would create community network infrastructure to
support essential services, including public safety and other municipal
purposes along with digital media access for all.

City Manager Nancy Flemming said, "Broadband access to the Internet is
essential infrastructure for the future of Rio Dell, as much as it is
for the entire North Coast. We are delighted to have partners who share
our commitment to build public service networks that provide access to
digital communications for our residents. Access to a redundant Internet
connection is very important. And we expect the proposed Digital Rio
Dell Project to bring many new ideas and ongoing innovations, and is a
great opportunity for Rio Dell and it’s residents."

Access Humboldt's Executive Director Sean McLaughlin said, "While
exploring next generation Internet possibilities for Humboldt County we
identified this timely opportunity for Access Humboldt to help bring
public and private resources together to increase community
communications assets - this project could be the result! Thanks to the
City of Rio Dell and our private partners, especially Carlson Wireless
and Security National Servicing Corp.for making this opportunity
possible. Thanks also to Suddenlink Communications for providing Access
Humboldt with dedicated network connections for public, educational and
governmental purposes."

Jim Carlson, CEO of Carlson Wireless said, “The Digital Rio Dell Project
creates an excellent prototype for next generation Internet applications
for improving public health, safety and education. We support this local
effort and look forward to bringing future innovation, including WiMAX
and digital media applications, to advance the Project.”
