For several months now Yahoo-SBCglobal.net has been telling customers
they are switching over to a secure AT&T Yahoo server, and that they
will need to change their mail programs. It looks like in the local
area that has finally happened, and that at&t was making the change
gradual from one area to another. Early conversion had resulted in
known file corruption for some people, by converting, finding out
this switch-over was not yet in effect (locally), then switching
their settings back.
A better recommended way of doing this to avoid the corruption
problem is to create a "New Account" in the Accounts window of
Preferences. After setting it up then disable it in the "advanced
tab." (turning off Enable... and Include...). Then go back and turn
off these same settings in the "old" sbcglobal.net account
(unsecured). Now you are ready to turn on the new AT&T secure
account. Before discarding the old account, one might want to back
it up on to a CD or DVD. Everything, of course, that one has never
deleted from the server will still be there once you turn on the new
secure account. If any of this might seem redundant, elementary, or
you already know this, it's because I'm sending this BCC to several
sources.
