[RTC List] Suddenlink woes continue today

Having no connectivity when I logged in this morning, I called Suddenlink's
toll-free number at 8.45 to enquire whether there was a service outage. I
received a prompt and polite response explaining that there was a service
outage which repair crews were already working on. My conection was fully
restored by 9.10am (on the East side of Eureka). I have a home business
account, since I rely on Internet connectivity for my business; not sure
whether this accounts for the disparity in response?
I, for one, was for once actually impressed by Suddenlink's responsiveness
and service. It's the first time I've been able to say that, and I hope it
won't be the last.

Subject: [RTC List] Suddenlink woes continue today
Suddenlink was absent for 6 hours this morning & the response to my phone
call to Suddenlink was "there is an outage in your area, but we don't know
when it will be repaired." The 6 PM KIEM news report tonight didn't answer
my questions - the Suddenlink rep on the 6 PM news said a fiber optic cable
break occurred quite a way upstream from Humboldt. Does anybody know if SBC
DSL was affected by the break? Or was this a Suddenlink-unique break (eg,
on their own property)? I have yet to get a straight answer from this
outfit, and they will not post internet outages on their TV channel 75.
They seem to prefer that us suckers (customers) sit on the phone waiting for
a service rep to take our call. It's an aloof, arrogant company taking full
advantage of their cable monopoly, and they seem to be operating without any
local official public oversight. Yes, I know I should switch to SBC, but I
hate changing email addresses & migrating web pages. Grrrr...
