Dear Dwight and Winter,
I was doing the video broadcast (on Access Humboldt channel 12) and video
streaming on the web (using our "Granicus system") last night from 7 until
10:30 of the Arcata Planning Commission meeting. Everything was going
fine until about 9 when when I lost internet connection. We use AT&T
through Humboldt Internet. I assume the live streaming stopped or
buffered serverly during this time. I didn't want to check for fear of
causing problems with the archiving of the meeting which happens by being
stored on our dedicated server and then sent to the Granicus company in
San Francisco overnight and available to everyone, archived, the next day.
If you haven't seen this incredible system for giving the public access to
their government's meetings check it out by going to: arcatacityhall.org
for our home page which has "Watch it Now - city council and other
meetings" on the right-hand side or directly to the list of meetings at:
http://www.cityofarcata.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=61
You can go to any meeting listed and view a specific agenda item or type
in a search word and see a list of all the meetings and jump points
related to your query.
I would like to see a county/cities cooperative system, with Granicus or
done ourselves, that would have the county's and all Humboldt city's
meetings live and archived on the web. This system would then also show
how the county and cities have all dealt with certain issues, for instance
"annexation", by typing in that search word (try it at Arcata's site).
The state is currentlyh in the process of streaming all their commission
and committee meetings.
