I've tried to get dsl or cable (we are only a few miles from Eureka), 
but no is willing to make the extra effort
to put a line up my road ~800' (we have satellite and have had ISDN).

The reason for AT&T to refuse service is that we are "too far" from the 
switch and suddenlink has said that they have no interest in adding 
service to our location.

No matter what we do to get  high speed, redundant connections to the 
major areas, unless switches
get placed out in the non-city areas, nothing can be done to get 
connection to the rural sections.
