Allow me to introduce myself as an Arcata-based web-developer.  I  
just formed a company called Transit Information Solutions  
(www.transitinfosolutions.com) which just brought Google Transit to  
Humboldt County (www.hta.org) and is now attracting many new out-of- 
the-area clients.  I am also the outreach director for Green Wheels NEC.

Green Wheels is leading a coalition of groups who are calling for  
alternatives to the proposed Eureka-Arcata 101 Corridor Project.  The  
proposed project is bicycle, pedestrian, and transit unfriendly.   
 From my perspective as a young, enterprising information-technology  
consultant, the approach the project takes is one that neglects to  
consider an appropriate strategy for Humboldt County's economic,  
technological, and cultural development in the current era.  It does  
not make appropriate steps to offer any of the quality of life  
information entrepreneurs are attracted by, such as a multi-use  
trail.  Instead, it makes massive ($60 million+) investments in  
highway infrastructure on a scale which I do not believe are  
necessary or have an appropriate place in an information economy.   
Imagine what we could do by investing $62 million in projects that  
would improve quality of life for information entrepreneurs, pursued  
in a coordinated strategy with broadband investments.

I ask that the Redwood Technology Consortium consider letting me add  
their name as a signer on this letter (attached for you to read).
