Happy Holidays!
Happy New Year 2009!
Happy Holidays and best wishes for the New Year! from Cole Machado
I am sorry if you got this email multiple times. Sending it as a mass email was the only way to get this to you before you wake up on Christmas morning!

December 25, 2008

Dear Friends & Family,

At this special time of year I find myself
thinking of you and all the people who have been a positive influence
on my life. I just wanted to share a few thoughts with you as I
celebrate this special holiday season. While we may be far apart from each other and someone special that I care about is not with me this
Christmas season. I know we are all connected. That our lives and
friendships are not just random. We have some kind of inter-connection.
I hope this holiday season brings you lots of joy, peace, happiness,
and love. I hope you are able to spend it with those you love and care
about deeply.

My job over the last year and my full time political volunteer work
since September have brought home a very important part of our life.
FAMILY. In my political work on the issue of Marriage Equality here in
California and my work in 2007 & 2008 on the Hillary Clinton for
President and Obama for America campaigns have shown me that someday we
will have equal rights under the law. From June until November It was
a difficult time because my partner and I were not able to get married
as we had planned doing someday. I have seen myself draw closer to my
partner as we worked together from home in 2007 and 2008. Then as he
left our home to go to the opposite coast to serve our country. It has
been difficult but I know I am in his heart. I know everything will
work out in the end.

I want you to know that I care about you and you
are in my thoughts and prayers. As I look forward to 2009 and my work
with Join the Impact a
national grass roots LGBT educational and advocacy organization. I am
excited about the goals we have for next year. I encourage you to
follow my work on my blog at http://impacthumboldt.blogspot.com and http://www.impacthumboldt.com to see events I am organizing in my local area. I hope you will join
with me and my partner working towards full equality for everyone in 2009. We
have so much work to do. Now some of you may disagree with me. That is
ok. A healthy democracy must show all points of view and ideas . I just want you
to know that the holidays are an especially difficult time for me and
my family because we do not yet have full equality in our country. I
have thought about you this holiday season and how you would deal with
some of the issues I face each day. But I know we will all survive.

In closing here is a holiday message I shared with some of you back in 2006.

For My Democratic Friends:

"Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes
for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress,
non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice
holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the
religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your
choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or
traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or
secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful,
personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the
generally accepted calendar year 2009, but not without due respect for
the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to
society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is
necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the
Western Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age,
physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishes.
By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This
greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely
transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no
promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for
herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and
is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is
warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good
tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent
holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to
replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole
discretion of the wisher."

For My Republican Friends:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
