[RTC List] Suddenlink problems in Trinidad??

Yesterday I had two people call me from the Trinidad area about their  
(SuddenLink) internet service being down.   My one client has had  
enough problem that she thought about going over to AT&T for DSL, but  
apparently it is not available beyond the village.   SuddenLink when  
called, claimed there was no problem and they could see the users; -  
however when asked about setting the one person's modem to bridge  
mode, so they could use it with a wireless router (AirPort) they said  
that "was not possible."   These folks are trying to operate  
businesses from their homes.  Is there anyone here on the List that is  
in Trinidad to know if there was a local outage?   I constantly have  
to wonder what other alternatives we have since we appear to be held  
hostage.  I'm supposed to "feel lucky" that I can get DSL at 310 kbps  
in northern Arcata, yet my other phone line only qualifies for dial-up.
