OK Folks -
Looking at maps of the winning bidders for 700Mhz frequencies - looks
like the winning bidders for our area are:
A Block: Verizon (Del Norte & Siskiyou = US Cellular) - 12-megahertz
with no open access requirements
B Block: US Cellular - 12-megahertz with no open access requirements
C Block: Verizon - 22-megahertz licenses, spectrum bound to the FCC’s
open-access provision requiring winners to provide access to any device
compatible with the network’s technology.
D Block: suspended - public safety requirements
E Block: Qualcomm for MediaFLO USA (Del Norte & Siskiyou = Frontier for
EchoStar Corp.) - six megahertz of unpaired spectrum thought to be ideal
for a streaming television service.
If anyone is doing analysis of what this means for local wireless
broadband market - please share your insights!
Aloha.
