Actually, once the conversion is completed, the FCC will have some property returned that can be auctioned off.  So from a taxpayer cost point-of-view, the auctions should hopefully cover the FCC's transition costs and net some extra revenue to the FCC.

Hi folks. Has anyone seen any info on how much the Feds are spending to get us ready for 
next-generation TV signals? I suspect this taxpayer funded subsidy is huge.
