[RTC List] Suddenlink

i just upgraded from ATT's 3Mb/sec Pro plan to the 6Mbs/sec Elite plan after
checking availability of 6Mb/s service on my phone number. it was listed
online as costing $5 more/month than the 3Mb/sec plan ($35/month
vs$30/month).
Because the online ordering seemed to be a PITA, I called the 1-800-288-2020
number on my phone bill. the customer service representative offered me a
promotional rate of $17.50/month for the first 6 months of 6Mb/sec service.
After that it reverts to the $35/month price. the new speed should be in
place tomorrow. I'll let you all know what speed i get and how it works out.
The impetus for this change was Suddenlink's continuing network problems and
the resulting inability of my nightly jobs that backup client data to
complete. i've changed the default route on the backup servers to use the
ATT DSL line instead of the Suddenlink cable connection.
I didn't expect to save money on the change...
