Access Humboldt’s McLaughlin Wins Tech Business Award

The Redwood Technology Consortium gave its annual Innovative Technology Business Award to Sean McLaughlin of Access Humboldt.


Anyone who talks to Sean McLaughlin knows how passionate he is about broadband and digital media on the North Coast,” said Daria Topousis, President of RTC.  “He works tirelessly to share his passion and to campaign for broadband access for everyone in our community.”


McLaughlin was recognized for his policy work in broadband and public access.  This work was especially intensive earlier this year as rules were crafted for the disbursement of federal broadband stimulus funds.


In accepting the award, McLaughlin said “Access Humboldt and Redwood Technology Consortium share common goals to support education, to train people for technology jobs, and to create local fast Internet connections that make our lives better.  To honor our shared vision for the future, I am dedicating the Technology Leadership award to Access Humboldt’s media education programs for local youth.”


The mission of the Redwood Technology Consortium is to diversify and strengthen the economy and quality of life on the North Coast by enhancing the technological capabilities of our region through advocacy, outreach, and education.
