Hello Redwood Technology Consortium members and readers,

It has been many years since I was last a North Coast resident, but it is my pleasure to say that I am a returning prodigal daughter. I recognize a name or two on the membership roster, but I don't know if Dr. Humble will remember me from back when I interviewed him for a high school research paper in Ferndale, around 1990.

A recent position elimination and severance from Yahoo! has provided my family and I the opportunity to return to the North Coast and the community in which I was raised. I was thrilled to learn of the existence of this organization from Daria, and thrilled to know that I am in good company in my desire to promote technological opportunities in the area. I have spent countless hours working to get my mother online from the beautiful hills of Honeydew, where reliable broadband is still out of reach. I have had many conversations with talented local artists and
organizations, advocating the internet and related technology as key
tools for promoting themselves and their work. For years I have weighed what few options there have been to try and reconcile my internet career with the Humboldt job market, but now is a time for action.

By the end of the month, we will complete our move from Los Gatos and Silicon Valley to our new home in McKinleyville. I am actively seeking employment and have posted a pdf of my resume that is available here: http://rabidrenaissance.com/CV/Kathryn_Trower_CV.pdf

My professional background is primarily in mitigation of internet abuse and fraud at both the consumer and enterprise levels. I also have extensive experience working with engineering, operations, policy and legal personnel to securely manage user data and the corporate applications used to work with such data. Most of my work has been as an individual contributor working with small highly-skilled teams, most recently in the roles of Product and Project Management.

I look forward to my return home and to becoming more involved with this organization and its membership.

Regards,

Kate Trower
