It will be interesting to watch if the IP Networks gets it funding
approved by the CPUC CASF and then does their build-out without ARRA
support, will Broadband Associates go through with their project?
I've contended, since the beginning, that there may only be sufficient
business for one fiber provider to compete (especially with the
limited number of anchor tenants and the condition of our economy)
thus the "early bird gets the worm." If Broadband Associates get
funded, can they support their business case with just last-mile end
users and only one or two anchor tenants? I think not, but time will
tell...
The next question, which is very timely, is if BA associates don't go
forward with their plans to build-out Hwy. 299, then what? Will we
even know in sufficient time to develop a proposal in February or
March (which is when the next round will probably occur)? Let's roll
the dice again and see...
