Notes<br>RTC General Membership Meeting<br>June 12, 2008, 5:30 pm<br>Humboldt Area Foundation, Conference Room, Bayside<br><br>Bob Morse, President, convened the meeting and invited those in attendance to briefly introduce themselves.<br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">PROGRAMS/VENUES/2008 MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS</span><br>There will not be any RTC general meetings in July or August. The next meeting will be Thursday, September 11, with the guest speaker to be announced soon. <br><br>Members are invited to submit suggestions for program topics to the board by emailing board@redwoodtech.org.<br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">ANNOUNCEMENTS</span><br> <span style="font-weight: bold;">**</span>RTC has a new board member, Steve Stratton.<br> <span style="font-weight: bold;">**</span>RTC Board announces a new award – The Technology Leadership Award to be given to one or two local technology leader in areas such as, but not limited to: <br>--advocacy and
outreach related to technology;<br>--innovative use of technology;<br>--technology training; and/or<br>--marketing of technology. <br> Anyone may nominate a person or an organization, including <br> themselves, for recognition. The RTC Board will narrow the <br> nominations to a few, and a vote by members via the RTC <br> website will determine the winners. Only RTC members are <br> eligible to win the awards. <br><span style="font-weight: bold;">**</span>SBDC will host a Business Technology Boot Camp on June 19 from 8:15 am – 4:30 pm. It will be held at the Humboldt Aquatic Center. Cost is
$35 in advance and $50 at the door. For more information go to www.sbdctap.com/bootcamp.<br><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span>The Broadband Forum will be held Thursday, August 21 at the Riverlodge in Fortuna. Preliminary Report from Redwood Coast Connect.</span><br>Tina Nerat gave an overview of the specific goals of RCC. <br>Identifying supply and demand in 4 county area – Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity and Mendicino. <br><br>RCC looked at supply criteria such as: --What is installed.<br>--Number of providers in served areas.<br>--Unserved areas<br>--Underserved areas.<br><br>Humboldt Broadband Demand – Demand Criteria – importance of broadband to residents and businesses.<br>--Local leadership<br>--Local interest<br><br>Develop Infrastructure Scenarios.<br><br>What’s next? Community Feedback and suggestions. Public comment on rankings and ratings.<br><br><span style="font-weight: bold;">GUEST SPEAKER – SETH JOHANNESEN from 101Netlink.</span><br>Seth Johannesen began his presentation with a short history of his business – 101Netlink. He then talked about the services that 101Netlink offers and that its strength is providing
redundancy to businesses that it is critical to.
